Engineering Services for Motion, Power and Machinery

UK engineering services to help you develop, validate and deliver with confidence.
PTL supports manufacturers, inventors, startups and investors developing technologies in motion, power and machinery. We reduce technical uncertainty early, so key decisions are based on sound engineering evidence rather than assumptions.

Why teams engage PTL

When programmes fail to deliver, it’s often not because ideas lack value, it’s because performance assumptions, integration risk, complexity, durability or scale-up behaviour are not resolved early enough.

PTL is engaged to resolve those uncertainties before they become expensive. We work across concept, feasibility, design development, prototype planning, validation and production optimisation, with multi-physics analysis and engineering judgement at the core.

Specialist Markets

PTL supports engineering programmes across five specialist markets.

Engines

Advanced engines and powertrain innovation from light-duty to large engines, for research and production.

Energy Systems

Renewables, hydrogen, energy storage, heat pumps and alternative cycle machines, where reliability, lifecycle behaviour and harsh environments drive the engineering brief.

Mobility Systems

EV, hybrid and off-highway platforms and integrated vehicle systems where packaging and production viability dictate the success of a programme.

Precision Control Systems

Embedded controls and dynamic test rigs where dynamics, response and measurement quality are critical.

Motors

Bespoke electric motor and solenoid design, motor-driven system architecture and harsh-environment motor engineering.

Engineering Toolchain

Core tools used across projects include PTC Creo, Siemens NX, SolidWorks, Inventor, GT-SUITE, GT-Power, Ansys, FEMFAT, Simulink, Converge, Ansys Fluent and Star-CCM+.

These tools are used to support engineering decisions, not to replace engineering judgement.

How we work

PTL is independently owned, technology-agnostic and senior-led. The engineer you speak to on the first call is the engineer shaping the technical decisions throughout your programme. Work is scoped around your outcome rather than around an internal product roadmap, a parent group’s priorities, or a junior-delivery model. NDA-first, with IP remaining yours throughout.

Frequently asked questions about PTL engineering services

Yes. Every engagement is structured so that design ownership, patents and commercial rights remain with the client throughout the programme.

A feasibility study is a shorter, more focused engagement. It names the main technical risks, tests key assumptions and recommends a route forward. A full engagement picks up from there into design, analysis, prototype support and validation. Many clients start with a feasibility study to protect a larger prototype or tooling decision.

PTL is an engineering design and development firm, not a manufacturer. We offer design, analysis, systems engineering, project management and prototype procurement capability in house, with a well established global network of manufacturing partners. Beyond prototyping, where production is part of the scope, we work with selected suppliers to retain continuity through the engineering program.

The best way to find out is a technical discovery call. You speak directly with engineering specialists, walk through your project, and leave with early feedback on technical risks and whether PTL’s experience fits your requirements.
